Chris Hood - Director

Chris is an accomplished engineering surveyor, having led teams on projects of all scales and lifecycle phases throughout NZ and Australia. Following a Bachelor of Surveying at Otago University, his career started in Sydney (AU), working across both horizontal and vertical infrastructure. Following this, Chris decided to pivot away from surveying and took a role as an engineer in London, gaining valuable experience in subcontractor management, project planning and HSE implementation. Upon returning to NZ his career took another turn, working at a large scale design consultancy where he held various roles including civil designer and digital lead on multiple Tier 1 infrastructure projects.

Having first hand experience as a designer, engineer and surveyor, Chris has a unique understanding of project requirements at all stages from concept through to handover and ongoing asset management, allowing him to provide value and expertise at any stage of a project’s life cycle.

With a wealth of practical experience, Chris is highly regarded when it comes to implementation of measurement techniques in real world scenarios, particularly high precision GNSS applications, survey control networks in challenging environments and laser scanning. On top of field based work, Chris is known as an expert across a range of design and modelling software applications, crediting the 100’s if not 1000’s of hours of sleepless nights early in his career working night shifts or stressing about working night shifts, to his expertise in 12d, AutoCAD, Trimble Business Centre, Pix4D, SNAP, Trimble Realworks and anything else that people can name.
